Behind the name
Finding a name for a blog is no small task. I agonized over it for a long time. I would identify ones I liked, only to find out they were taken already. It really took me a while.
The word MOSTLY was really appealing to me when I was brainstorming names for this website.
MOSTLY fits with my personality. As an event management professional, I’m rarely 100% satisfied with every detail of my events, but I’m usually quite happy with the overall outcome.
It reminds me that for every person complaining about this or that, the majority of people thoroughly enjoyed what I organized.
MOSTLY also reminds me that I don’t need to know all the details or have everything perfectly done before presenting it to the world. I use it as a mantra since I typically get a smidge hesitant before clicking the publish button.
Likewise, it functions as permission to do less. I do need to remind myself again and again that doing less is OK. In a world where wanting more, doing more and filling every minute of every day with some sort of activity is the norm, MOSTLY allows me to write less during the summer months, for example. Unplugging is good for my soul and because flower beds, fireworks, vacation and cocktails are best enjoyed with my eyes up my phone.
Although I love writing about decluttering, simplifying and organizing, MOSTLY represents somewhat of a doorway to a variety of other topics I might want to write about in the future.
One last thought
Sometimes I get stuck on this blog; about what to do next. I have to constantly remind myself that committing one organizing idea to paper, periodically, however inconsistent that may be, depending on the season or what else is going on in my life, is enough. Publishing one post at a time, and hopefully giving you one little spark of inspiration is MOSTLY good enough for today.
What does MOSTLY mean to you? How could you use this word as permission to move forward on one of your dreams? How different and more enjoyable would this day be if you decided that MOSTLY ______ was enough?
