My December Housekeeping List is pretty thin and there is a reason for that.
The end of the calendar year is usually a pretty busy time for a lot of us; so, no reason to add to your already long To Do List.
Although the frenzy of the Holidays is upon us and it can be a bit overwhelming, it can also be fun, exciting even and the perfect time to do like the Danes and hygge.
“ Hygge has been described as everything from “the art of creating intimacy”, “cosines of the soul”, “the absence of annoyance” to “taking pleasure from the presence of soothing things”, “cozy togetherness” and “the pursuit of everyday pleasures”. – The Little Book of Hygge
So, take the time to enjoy the food, the company and all the twinkle lights that appear at this time of year.
December Housekeeping Checklist
Falling into bed at the end of a full day is a fantastic thing. It’s even better when the linens are fresh, and the bed is made.
To make your beds even more inviting, flip the mattresses regularly and vacuum them. It will keep the dust, dead skin and other gross things we won’t mention here to a minimum.
A few things to do so you can enjoy the season:
- We keep our seasonal decoration to a minimum, but we still put some stuff up. Depending on your style, add a little sparkle or go full out and install and transform your house into a candy can wonderland.
- Once the gift giving bit is done, sort and donate older toys and electronics that have just been replaced or are not being played with anymore.
BONUS – Self Care
- Catch-up on some sleep.
- Do nothing.
- Try a new cookie recipe.
- Do a yearly review and brainstorm on your goals for next year.
These are just ideas, you should increase or diminish the frequency for each task according to your household habits. Also, please make sure you always check your user manuals for instructions before you tackle any electronics or appliances.
