February Housekeeping Checklist

In our lovely northern hemisphere, days are noticeably getting longer and that’s getting me excited. January often feels like the longest month of the year – ever, so I’m glad February is upon us.

Maybe some of you are planning a warm-weather getaway (lucky you), a special Valentine’s Day or Lunar New Year celebrations. Regardless, all the festivities and splash or red are definitely a welcome sight.

But, if you’re staying put and are looking for indoor productive things to do, I have a few suggestions that will keep your home in top shape.

Fevruary Housekeeping Checklist

1. Food

Before your next grocery shopping trip, clean your fridge and your freezer by throwing away expired food. See if you have doubles of anything and combine.

Take anything that’s left and quickly wipe surfaces. Wipe the containers and put them back. Vacuum behind and under your fridge and clean coils.

If you move quickly, it shouldn’t take you more than 15-20 minutes.

2. Taxes

Yes friends, it’s that time of year again. Don’t wait until the last minute, gather your tax papers and see about extra retirement saving contributions.

3. Bathroom

Bathrooms are well used in most homes. Once a year, make sure their bones are in good condition by checking the grout and seals. Do any repairs if needed; you don’t want water infiltrations that are going to cause damage down the road.

4. Health and Safety

Your vacuum cleaner works hard for you, help it do its job by cleaning or changing its filter regularly and emptying the canister every time you use it. Check the user manual for all the details.

BONUS – Self Care

  • Get educated about your heart health #TimeToSeeRed.
  • Celebrate the Lunar New Year with some delicious dumplings.
  • Handwrite love letters to your partner, mom, cousin, besties … heck write one to yourself too.
  • Galentine’s/Valentine’s Day is coming up! Buy yourself some fresh flowers or a new plant and love on your home.
