Maintaining a home takes time, whether you live in a mansion or a tiny apartment.
Instead of trying to do too much at once, keep up with our Monthly Maintenance Checklist and take care of your home effortlessly.
Home Maintenance Checklist Series
1. Take care of your health
Make sure you take care of your heating system and limit dust and potential allergens. If you have forced air heat, change the filter regularly. If you have radiant heat, vacuum and/or wipe your radiators.
People get sniffles all year round. Fight back by disinfecting handles, door knobs, light switches, TV remotes, phones, keyboards and mouse or any other items in high traffic areas or that you touch every day.
Take this time to also get rid of any expired products or medicine. All drugs have an expiry date and self-care products usually have a symbol letting you know how long you can keep it after it’s opened.
BONUS – Go get some real vitamin D … outside!
2. Enjoy all the beautiful colours and smells
You’ve planted a bunch of pretty flowers in your flower beds, pots or balcony planters. Time to stop and smell the roses … and do a little weeding while you’re at it.
3. Cleaning tools
Want your vacuum to suck all the dust and crumbs in one pass? Make sure you empty it regularly, change or clean the filter.
These are just ideas, you should increase or diminish the frequency for each task according to your household habits. Also, please make sure you always check your user manuals for instructions before you tackle any electronics or appliances.
